Tell about Family Reunions.
Oh boy!! I wish I were at home so I could upload pictures. The main one that sticks out in my mind was our trip to the Rockin R Ranch in Utah. I believe it was the summer of 2001(?). My grandparents on my moms side rented the entire ranch for all the family to come and celebrate my grandpas 80th birthday. They had horseback riding, line dancing, a family dance, lots of food and even some roping compatitions! It was a blast. I think we were there for a week or so. I had a blast staying up late with my cousins and just relaxing.

Day 14
Describe your yard as a child. Did you help with the yardwork?
Well it was a very LARGE yard in the back. There were gates on both sides of the house. We had a trampoline and a beagle that barked all the time. We all had to help with the yardwork. Mowing that yard was a major task! We didnt have much in the front, grass and a tree or two. There was some landscaping up by the porch too. (am I the only one who thinks this topic is boring?!)

Day 13
Describe the most serious illness or accident that you have had.
Oh boy. Well when I was 15 I broke both of my legs snow skiing in Colorado. Or maybe in 6th grade when I broke my wrist rollerblading... or maybe when I had kidney stones while I was 7 months pregnant with Ava. Take your pick!
Well people, sorry for all the short answers. Im at work, and im playing catch up! Im really going to try to keep up with this thing. Wish me luck!

Day 12
What do you feel has been the most significant world event that has taken place in your lifetime and why?
Im going to be a copycat and do what Shenna did. It was September 11, 2001. Here's what I wrote on September 11 2009:
I remember that day very well. I was on my way home from running some errands. My friend Jamie called me on my cell phone and asked me if I had heard the news. What news? I hadn't heard anything. She told me that a plane had just crashed into one of the twin towers in NYC and that people were frantic. No one knew what was going on. I rushed home and turned on the tv. I was 19 years old. As I sat there, watching the tv, i was stunned. I was speechless. I was numb. I watched as they played the tape over and over again. The plane hitting the tower. The people jumping out of the building trying to save themselves but at the same time knowing that they couldnt.I called my mom at work. Now I was frantic. I was screaming, crying and told her what had happened. She asked if I needed her to come home. I said yes. I needed her to come home. I was so scared.I remember feeling so heartbroken for all those people. I couldnt imagine the fear they must have felt. They knew they were going to die. They had families. They had children. They were husbands, wives, grandparents. Parents.I remember watching the courageous fireman and police officers running into the buildings. Risking their own lives.I remember when the towers collapsed. The whole city engulfed in a grey cloud of smoke. I remember the bridge. People trying to escape. They were running. Screaming.I felt like my heart was literally breaking. I couldnt breathe. I coudnt stop crying.I went over to Jamie's that night and we stayed up the whole night watching the news. Talking about those poor, innocent people. So many dead. No answers as to who was responsible or why this had happened. As I look back, 8 years later. I still feel the heartbreak. I feel for the families, the loved ones of all the people who were lost that day. It brings tears to my eyes to see the pictures of ground zero. The people still mourning the deaths of their loved ones.I remember right after 9/11. People were driving around with american flags on their cars. everyone had a flag in their yard. We were proud to be who we are and we werent going to stand for what had happened. That is why I love this country. Because like my intelligent older sister said, america is one big family. We pick on eachother and we do wrong to one another, but when someone threatens us or our country, we band together and stand up for it.My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those who where lost that day.I will never forget.

Day 11
Do you have a favorite author? Who? Why? Tell about your favorite books as a child and as an adult.
Well I dont remember my favorite book as a child but I know what my favorite children's book is. "Goodnight Moon." My kids both love it. We read it every night.
As an adult, my favorite books are the "Twilight" series.

Day 10
What is your greatest joy? Your greatest sorrow?
My greatest joy is definitely my family. I say it all the time, but I love them so much. I know that sometimes (most of the time) Im a terrible mom, frustrated with no patience, but I love my kids more than anything. Matt has been my rock since we've been married. I would feel so lost without my family.
My greatest sorrow....hmmm... is it sad I can think of a few? The hardest time in my life was definitely after high school when I had an eating disorder and had all kinds of problems at home. I dont talk to hardly anyone about this, so its kind of hard to put into words. I was at an inpatient hospital in Kansas City (for anorexia) and I was trying to make sense of everything going on at home. I felt so hopeless. I felt lost. I felt so alone. I didnt have any desire to even live anymore. It was a really dark place I hope I never go to again. It was then that everything came out. All the secrets I'd kept, all the people I never wanted to hurt got hurt. Looking back I know that it was the best thing that could have happened, but my parents ended up getting divorced. It was tough to go through, but the outcome couldnt have been any better. Im greatful for all I learned from that experience.

Day 9
Where did you live as a child - town, country, suburb, etc?
We lived in Utah, California (in the ghett-o), Washington and Kansas. Kansas was an awesome place to grow up. I didnt think so growing up, but now looking back I had a pretty great time there. We had a nice house, my own room and only had to share a bathroom with 1 other person, so it was pretty awesome.

Day 8
Describe your mother's wedding dress - what do you know about her wedding?
I know she was so happy. She looked stunning. Her dress was long, ivory colored and sooo her. She looked amazing. It was a perfect day.

Day 7
Tell about your retirement - when, where, what will you do with your time?
Not quite sure. I would like to live close to my kids, but not in a creepy, overbearing "hi, its mom, im coming over all day" kind of way. Id love to travel. See the world.
Guess we'll find out in 30 years.

Day 6
Write a description of your husband.
Funny, stubborn, happy, spiritual, giving, courteous, loud, outspoken, outgoing, loving, witty, generous, genuine, passionate, hard working, intelligent, handsome.
I love him.

Day 5
Describe your wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, etc.
My dress was simple. Short sleeves, long, small train, and some beadwork at the top. It was perfect.
My "bridesmaids" wore ugly pink button down shirts and flower print skirts. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely have picked something else... I wont go there though.
Guys wore brown pants with pale yellow shirts and orange ties.

Day 4
Where were you and what were you doing the day the wall came down in Germany (or the coup occurred in USSR or when World War II started or ended)?
I have no idea. I was young. I remember my parents went to Germany right after the wall came down and brought some pieces home. That was neato.

Day 3
Tell about home cures or old wives tales: hiccups, toothaches, earaches, or arthritis.
Ummm, I aint got none.

Day 2
Describe a favorite vacation of your married years.
Hmmm... Well, we've been on many trips to KS and UT to see my parents, we've been to Mexico and California but I think our very best vacation was our honeymoon. We stayed in a nasty Days Inn and ordered pizza that gave us food poisoning, but we were so in love, we didnt care. We went to the San Diego Zoo and went deep sea fishing. I got sick on the boat, but we still had a great time. It was nice to have a break from all the stress of getting married and just enjoy eachother.

Day 1
I know I barely update my other blog but I thought i'd give this one a try... I have 14 days of catch-up so i'll do my best.
Tell something about each of your children - the personalities, talents, and traits that make them different and special.
Oh boy.. well, my Landon definitely has a personality. He was born big, and has stayed big. He's a tall boy with a big head (its full of brains!!) He has a smile that melts my heart, and a laugh that fills me with pure joy. He is smart, determined, hilarious, witty, curious, outdoorsy, stubborn and loving. He is always trying to make a deal. the other night, he was in the tub and said, "Ok mom. When you get ava out and youre done drying her hair, I will get out of the tub and go to bed. Its just a SHORT, SHORT time you know. Is that a deal?"
He loves all things associated with the ocean, and cant wait to go to Sea World in July.
He's been known to be a "handful" (is that the nice word for it?). He was an absolute dream baby, but once he hit 18 months it was all downhill...he used to throw tantrums in the store to the point where I was the one in tears, run away from me in parking lots, say some very naughty words, etc. However, im happy to report he is FINALLY outgrowing that stage...very slowly.
I love him so much. My world would not be complete without him.
Now Ava has been a difficult one since day 1. She came out screaming and has been everyday since. She is full of attitude and spunk. She has an awesome lithp that makes me laugh. She had a soft and scratchy voice for a long time, but has since gone away. Im sad about that one. I loved her little voice. She is dramatic, determined, brave, adventurous, happy, cuddly, funny and has the prettiest eyes.
When I found out she was a girl and not a boy ( I wanted her to be a boy SO bad.) I cried. Now that I look back, I cannot imagine having anyone in our family but her. She brings so much to our home. She is definitely a daddy's girl. She cant wait to go hunting with Daddy and Landon when she gets a little bigger.
My kids are my whole life. Im greatful I have the privilage of being their mother and hope that maybe someday I can be half as good as they deserve.+
